A Colorful Landscape

Hector Vega’s newest image to be included in the Hectorvega.com website is an update to previous images of the Cleveland skyline and its major points of interest. When asked about the impetus for creating the new image, Hector responded that, he “tries to update these location images about every two years to keep current with the shifting scenery that is constantly changing in a healthy, growing city.”

A Vibrant City

The image is a vibrant, cubist-style collage representing Cleveland, Ohio. It is composed of geometric shapes, bold lines, and overlapping elements that highlight the city's landmarks, culture, and sports teams. The colors are strikingly varied, featuring bright blues, reds, yellows, and greens that create an energetic and dynamic composition.

Architectural elements such as the Terminal Tower, Playhouse Square, and the West Side Market clock tower are integrated into the design. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s "Long Live Rock" sign is prominently placed near the center, emphasizing Cleveland’s musical significance. The use of different fonts and signage, including "East 4th," "Murray Hill," and "78th Street Studios," adds a layered urban texture.

Cleveland’s sports culture is represented with symbols from the Cleveland Browns (helmet), Cavaliers (sword and basketball), and Guardians (baseball logo). NASA’s logo and the Goodyear blimp nod to the city’s aerospace and industrial contributions.

Where Does the Inspiration Come From?

Hector adds that he uses internet searches and input from friends and associates to determine which locations become integrated into the artwork. These internet searches, or photos taken by Hector himself, or provided by associates are the inspiration for the creative process that results in the image.

Hector began the process for this latest addition in the Summer of 2024 and completed the image in the Fall of that same year. This image, along with Hector’s Guitar Image are the two best-selling images in his catalog.
